Success at national competitions earns Northampton school top spot for sports

A Northampton secondary school has been named the number one state school for sport in England by a national magazine.

Northampton School for Boys, off Billing Road, has taken the top spot in School Sport Magazine's annual round-up for the third time in four years.

It comes after 26 teams from the school reached the last stages of national competitions in 2017, 16 of which placed in the top 10 in the country.

Richard Bernard, headteacher of Northampton School for Boys, said: "This truly is a team effort and one to be celebrated by the school as a whole. Well done, not only to all of those who are directly involved in school sport at NSB, but also to the wider school community.
