A trio of catering students from Northampton College will get the chance to work in some of the best kitchens in the US when they head to Florida as part of a year-long internship.

Luke Zajac, Sorrel Bywater and Charlie Berrill, all level three students at the college’s Booth Lane campus, will jet out next month to start their 12 month placements after having been selected from dozens of candidates across Europe.

Luke and Sorrel will head to the prestigious Pinetrees Golf Club while Charlie will work at Harbour Ridge Yacht and Country Club, putting into practice everything they have learnt in three years in the kitchens at Northampton College.

Luke currently works part-time at O’Neills in The Drapery, Northampton. He said: I’m looking forward to sharing some of my ideas with the teams in America.”

For Sorrel, pastry is her favourite aspect of life in the kitchen at Beckworth Emporium where she works part time.

She said: “The team in America were really interested to find out more about my pastry skills and seemed intrigues by my chocolate soufflé so I can’t wait to get out there and show them what I can do.”
