Drivers are currently experiencing long delays and slow traffic due to the crash on the northbound stretch of the A43, between the A5 junction at Towcester and the roundabout for junction 15a of the M1.

Both directions of the carriageway had to be closed while the 4x4 was recovered. The vehicle was transporting a trailer carrying two bulls, witnesses said, which had overturned and collided with the central reservation.

A police spokesman said the driver of the Land Rover was not injured and the two bulls are also safe.

The A43 is now fully open in both directions, but delays are expected to take some time to clear.
