A stall in Northampton market square was destroyed last night in a suspected arson attack in the town centre.

Fire crews were called to the square in the heart of town at around 7.40pm yesterday (December 9) to put out the burning canopy.

Pictures sent to the Chronicle & Echo this morning show the ruined stall has now been taped off.

Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue has been contacted for a comment.
