A spokeswoman for the hospital confirmed this morning that a number of junior doctors that joined NGH in August were affected by the problem.

She said staff were trying to resolve the issue and NGH hoped to have transferred the owed money by the end of today.

She said the hospital was as yet unable to say how many doctors were affected as the payroll teams were concentrating on rectifying the issues rather than tallying numbers.

It comes after a NGH payroll error in April that saw nurses, porters, domestics and switchboard staff fail to receive their owed enhancements payments

Some of the staff were owed as much as £1,500 and the last reimbursements were paid several days after the due date.
