Snow showers are expected to return to the county tomorrow and could continue on and off until Thursday, Pitsford Hall weather station said today.

The county can expect a light dusting tomorrow morning, following some snowfall overnight, although probably not enough to disrupt motorists, the experts said.

A spokesman for the weather station said: “It will turn cloudier late on Monday afternoon ahead of some outbreaks of rain which will make their way into the county this evening.

“This rain will turn increasingly to sleet and even snow overnight as temperatures drop to around freezing.

“Wintry showers will develop through Tuesday afternoon, the propensity for snow increasing further east. These showers will clear during the evening to leave a dry night, yet with still a fresh breeze, now northerly.”

More snow showers are also forecast for Wednesday and, perhaps, Thursday night.

The spokesman said: “Another cold day will follow on Wednesday, still with some wintry showers around, especially towards the east during the afternoon. The wind will have eased only slightly to a moderate northerly. Highs of 4C falling overnight to -1C.

“Thursday will start dry, but outbreaks of rain will move in during the afternoon, perhaps with a wintry mix on its trailing edge overnight. Winds will back north-westerly easing slightly.”
