Cobblers fans could soon see work restart on the East Stand at Sixfields, according to the club’s chairman, who says a contractual dispute is close to being resolved.
The new stand, which will increase the capacity of the ground from 7,653 to 10,000, was originally due to be open in September.
However a contractual dispute left workers downing tools at the ground in October.
Club chairman David Cardoza said yesterday: “The expectation is that the club is close to resolving its contractual issues and looking to make an announcement very soon regarding when the works will restart on the stand.”
The new stand, part funded through a £12 million loan from Northampton Borough Council, is set to include corporate boxes and a Legends’ Lounge area, paying tribute to the history of the club, as well as a large concourse and indoor family fans’ village, providing family activities on match days.
