More than 1,000 pupils at Kingsthorpe College in Northampton have taken part in their own General Election vote today.
In the past two weeks, students at the school in Boughton Green Road have received talks each of the main political parties represented in the Northampton North constituency.
This morning all 1,300 students then voted for their favourite party in a classroom that had been converted to represent an official voting station with booths and paper ballots set up to mirror the local and national elections.
Principal, Debbie Morrison, said: “The students have been totally engaged in the process and have learnt so much over the last few weeks. To see them take such an interest in their Country’s future, at such a young age, has been a professional joy. Huge thanks to all the student councillors and staff who have made it such a worthwhile experience”.
