Public Health England have said the patient admitted to NGH last night has tested negative for Ebola.

Samples were sent to a laboratory late last night after a patient who returned from abroad had Ebola-like symptoms.

However, following a negative test for malaria yesterday night, the woman patient also tested negative for Ebola.

A Public Health England (PHE) spokeswoman confirmed suspected Ebola patient had recently travelled abroad.

She said: “PHE can confirm it received a sample for precautionary Ebola testing, involving a patient at Northampton General Hospital and the test is negative.”
