School children at Northampton High School celebrate Queen's 90th birthday

Children at Northampton High School hung out the bunting to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday despite the dismal weather.

Nursery, reception and Year 1 girls celebrated by all wearing red, white and blue, the girls enjoyed a picnic tea of sandwiches and crisps followed by traditional strawberries and ice cream.

A spokeswoman said: “Music played and the girl’s chatted excitedly, some asking if the Queen would be making an appearance!

“Many of the girls had made their own beautifully decorated crowns to wear to the party. To finish, everyone sang happy birthday and blew out the candles on a lovely birthday cake. Happy birthday Your Majesty from all at Northampton High School,” she added.
