Rotarians hand over cheque for £10,000 to air ambulance after Dragon Boat Festival

A cheque for £10,000 has been presented to Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance by the Northampton Rotary Clubs.

Thousands of people lined the banks of the River Nene as nearly 40 teams battled it out to become Northampton’s Dragon Boat champions for 2014.

The 11th annual event, which took place at Midsummer Meadow, featured a host of firms, groups from the town, going head-to-head in a series of races in boats adorned with Chinese-style dragons.

On Wednesday the 10th December The Committee of The Dragon Boat Race presented a cheque to Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance for £10,000

Chairman of the organising committee, Linda Lee-Davies, said: “It was a great day and we are so pleased to be able to support The Air Ambulance again.

Tracy Grunwell, partnership manager for The Air Ambulance, said: “I would like to thank the hundreds of Rotarians that volunteered their time to manage and organise the event, £10,000 will make a big difference , not just to us but to the lives we save, the Rotary continued support means that we can carry on doing the lifesaving work around Northamptonshire.”
