A driver followed a man to his workplace and punched him in the face in a road rage incident in Northampton.

A man was driving a red Peugeot 306 from the A605 near Peterborough towards Northampton on the A45 on Wednesday, January 15, when he was cut up by a dark blue or black Citroen C2 or C3, sometime between 6.40am and 7am.

The victim flashed his lights and beeped his horn at the Citroen.

This provoked the Citroen driver who manouvered his car so he was following the victim and then flashed his lights at him.

A police spokesman said the man continued to follow the Peugeot as they travelled towards Northampton, pulled up alongside the victim when the traffic slowed, and threw “unknown items” at his car.

The attacker then followed the victim to his place of work in Brackmills, Northampton, where he got out of his car and punched him in the face.

The attacker was white, in his 30s, of medium to heavy build, 5ft 6ins, with short, cropped balding hair. He had a Northampton accent and was wearing dark blue cargo trousers, a dark-coloured jacket and work boots.

Officers investigating the incident are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed any part of this incident, including the two cars travelling near one another from the direction of the A605 near Peterborough.

Witnesses, or anyone with information, are asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
