Thousands of music fans will descend in Delapre Park this weekend for a three-day festival.

Alive at Delapre kicks off this evening (Friday) with Simple Minds, Here & Now 80s nights on Saturday, culminating with headliners Boyzone on Sunday night.

Around 6,000 people are expected each night and Northampton Borough Council has warned there will be traffic disruption in the area.

A spokesman for Northampton Borough Council, which is organising the event, said: “The concerts will attract up to 6000 visitors each night and there will inevitably be some disruption to normal activities in the area over that weekend.

“Traffic and parking arrangements will be in place to minimise the disruption to residents. This will also ensure safe and rapid access to Delapre Park and the local area for emergency vehicles and access for service vehicles setting up at the event.”

A resident parking scheme will be in place to minimise any disruption to local residents. Parking restrictions will be enforced from 2pm each day.

From 10pm on each concert day, traffic will not be able to enter London Road from the St Leonards crossroad and Mereway roundabout junction. These restrictions will be lifted at approximately 11-11:30pm.

There is no parking at the event. Visitors are advised to park in the following town centre car parks: St John’s Multi Storey, Commercial Street, Midsummer Meadow, Mayorhold.
