Rider airlifted to hospital after being kicked in the head by horse


A horse rider who had been kicked in the head by a horse near Northampton was airlifted to hospital on Saturday night.

The woman, 48, was hurt during the incident at Rothersthorpe at about 6pm.

A spokeswoman for Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance said the ambulance arrived 15 minutes after receiving the call.

“The patient had received an injury to the back of her head and was complaining of pain in her right shoulder.

“She was immobilised before being transferred to University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire, which is the nearest trauma centre,” she added.
