A new Lidl store will open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony this week.
Discount store Lidl - currently based in Gambrel Road opposite Sinasbury's - is moving to a new larger store in Weedon Road this Thursday (August 23).
The new 1,690 square-metre budget supermarket will open its doors with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8am on Thursday.
Lidl UK’s Regional Head of Property, Jeremy Lee, commented: “We would like to thank all those who have played a part in improving our Lidl store in Northampton. It is great for us to be able to create more jobs and investment opportunities in the area, and we can’t wait to improve our store offering to local customers.”
The new supermarket will have 200 car parking spaces - up from 75 at the old store - and will feature a bakery, customer toilets and baby changing.
The store has also created up to 20 new jobs.
Customers who attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony can sample some of Lidl’s products throughout the day and will be able to pick up deals on hammer drills, vacuum cleaners and deep fryers on different days throughout the opening week.
The new supermarket forms part of the company’s ongoing expansion and regeneration plans in the UK which will see it open up to 50 new stores a year.
The Gambrel Road store will close on Wednesday, August 22 and the new store will open the following day on Thursday, August 23.
