A Northampton pub will reopen next week after being closed for seven weeks.

The Sunnyside in Boughton Green Road, Kingsthorpe, reopens on Monday, November 23 as part of Marston’s Generous George brand.

For every main meal served at Sunnyside, one penny will be donated to a local charity. Manager Laurie Mimer is inviting local good causes to get in touch via to put themselves forward.

The pub’s customers will then vote on who to support for the first quarter, and a new cause will then be chosen every three months. The Sunnyside said it hoped to raise “hundreds of pounds” for each organisation.

Mr Mimer said: “Essentially, we are a contemporary community pub that is new and different – giving people a reason to get out of the house and have a good time.”

“A pizza kitchen will serve up freshly made pizzas and the menu offers a range of burgers, snacks and sharers alongside established pub favourites.

“There is a new children’s play facility inside and an outdoor space too.”
