Reclaim the Night march heads through Northampton in memory of India Chipchase
Hundreds of people marched through Northampton town centre on Friday night to take a stand against violence.
Northamptonshire Rape Crisis (NRC) held its fourth annual Reclaim the Night march on November 25, which this year was in memory of India Chipchase.
The marchers gathered at the Morrisons car park in Victoria Promenade, leaving at 11pm. The group then went will the town centre, ending at All Saints Church at midnight, where a one minute silence was held in memory of India.
Dawn Thomas, NRC Chief Executive Officer, said: "Reclaim the Night marches are held in towns and cities across the country and aim to highlight the issue of violence and sexual violence, not only against women and girls but all genders and sexualities. The community as a whole is affected by violence and we all share a responsibility to deal with it."
The march was the culmination of a week of action by NRC to highlight and speak out against sexual violence.
