Rail line in Northamptonshire could be closed all day after landslip

A landslip in a tunnel in Northamptonshire is causing train services to be disrupted this morning, with engineers predicting the line will be closed all day.

The landslip happened at Corby Tunnel between Oakham and Corby, which has affected services on the Melton / Corby to London St Pancras route.

Network Rail have been on site this morning (Monday) assessing the damage.

For now the line is currently closed in both directions between Oakham and Corby.

A spokesman for East Midlands Trains said: “At present we are not expecting the line to re open today and once we know the extent of the damage we will have an idea for how long this disruption will be on for.”

Customers are able to travel on other operators services between Melton Mowbray / Oakham and Leicester / Peterborough to catch connecting trains to London.

Advance purchase tickets can be used on other trains if affected by this disruption.

These arrangements will remain in place until the line re-opens.
