Construction work has started at RAF Croughton, Northamptonshire, to build a new medical and dental facility, on a site leased to the US Air Force.

The 422nd US Air Force Medical Squadron will run the three-storey facility, which includes treatment rooms, laboratories, offices and meeting rooms.

It will service the needs of the US Air Force team who operate the communication station based at the site.

The £6.7m project is due for completion in April 2015 and will also include the demolition of the old building once the new facility is open.

Craig Learoyd, project manager for VINCI Construction UK said: “Having delivered an almost identical project at RAF Alconbury, the same project team will construct a comprehensive medical and dental facility, designed to be easily accessible not just to the US Air Force personnel based here, but their families as well.”
