Last year, the health professionals discovered six people with cancer. People who had moles that caused concern were referred to their GP and in some cases for urgent treatment. This year the events are even bigger and hoping to get many more people through the doors.

Health checks that will be available include skin cancer screening, diabetes checks, BMI and body fat percentage measures and stop smoking help,

There will also be the chance to use special equipment to find out what it’s like to be visually impaired, and there’ll be a focus on mental wellbeing, with an opportunity to find out how volunteering can improve your mood.

Attendees get the opportunity to take part in many different sports sessions, such as health walks, walking football, short mat bowls, and the new Otago exercises.

Helen said: “We’re going to a different part of the county each day, and it’s great to get out and help our audience.

“What’s great about the health check events is that we can have a lot of fun, but there are some serious messages to be delivered here, and this is a unique opportunity to do so.”

Marsha Ramroop, assistant editor at BBC Radio Northampton, said: “Helen’s Big Health Check is a great opportunity for us to help the health of the wider community by using our resources in partnership with the people already doing great work, and pull them all together in one place. Helen, and her producer, Sarah-Jane, have been working extremely hard on this, because as last year showed, these events can lead to live-saving detections of cancer.”

You can follow the event live throughout the week by tuning in, or by using the hashtag #HBHC2017
