The Quinton House U16 rugby team was victorious in the recent Cognita group tournament held at the Northampton Saints RUFC ground.
The tournament was organised and refereed by Northampton Saints coaches and East Midlands referees to add a professional touch for those players taking part. All senior schools that are part of the Cognita schools family were invited with eight teams attending and travelling from as far away as South Wales and Colchester.
A spokeswoman said: “The U16 competition final was a very tense affair with Quinton overpowering a very strong Welsh team by just one try. It was a great display of leadership from Joe Winterburn (Year 11) to hold together the nerves of the squad.
“The U13 team also played some good rugby and came a credible third in their group, despite lacking the usual punch that they have displayed on their winning league run; where they are continuing into the third round against Bishop Stopford School. Good luck boys!”
