Public inquiry after complaints over order to secure land for major housing development in Northamptonshire
A public inquiry is to be held after two complaints were lodged in relation to an order to secure land for future development.
Wellingborough Council made a compulsory purchase order (CPO) to secure the necessary land and estates and interests in land required for the implementation of a further phase of the Stanton Cross development on October 12 last year.
The CPO, known as the Borough Council of Wellingborough (Station Island North, Stanton Cross) Compulsory Purchase Order 2015, is about to be submitted to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government for confirmation.
If confirmed by the Secretary of State, the order will authorise the compulsory acquisition of land (and certain interests in land) located to the north of Mill Road, Wellingborough, together with part of Mill Road.
But following the submission of two objections to the CPO, a public local inquiry into this matter will be held at the council offices at Swanspool House in the town starting at 10am on Tuesday, May 10.
A copy of the order, the map, evidence statements and supporting documents can be seen at the Wellingborough Council offices from 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Wednesday, 9.30am to 5pm on Thursday or from 8.30pm to 4.30pm on Friday.
They can also be seen at Wellingborough Library in Pebble Lane between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm on Saturday and between 11am and 2pm on Sunday.

Stanton Cross is a major residential development set to deliver 3,650 homes for Wellingborough.
The development is planned for land to the east of Wellingborough’s train station and will be the largest growth the town has seen since the 1960s, including new homes as well as shops, schools, commercial space, a town park, community centre and doctor’s surgery.
Major improvements to roads and public transport will also take place.
