Proposal to move Moulton Post Office to new location

The Post Office has announced that it wants to move Moulton Post Office to a new location where it would be open seven days a week.

It wants to move the service to Yogi Stores, 50 Overstone Road, Moulton, where it would open as a modern open-plan “local” style branch with extended opening hours.

There will be a six-week public consultation into the move.

The new Moulton branch would offer Post Office products and services from two open-plan tills at the shop counter instead of from two separate screened counters.

Services would be provided throughout shop opening hours from Monday to Saturday from 7am - 8pm and Sunday from 8am to 1pm. This would offer an extra 37 hours a week of Post Office including Sunday morning and Saturday afternoon. The branch would open earlier and close later every day.

The proposed location is approximately 550 metres from the current Moulton Post Office at 2 Cross Street, Moulton.

It would be with the current Postmaster’s agreement and the organisation says it would be part of a major modernisation programme across the Post Office network designed to make it easier for customers to do business, through longer opening hours and modern open plan environments.

There would be easier access as the current branch has a step and the proposed location has a ramp.

Regional manager Will Russell said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Moulton and we are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”

The Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move in a six-week public consultation. During the public consultation, Post Office Ltd is looking for feedback on any issues customers would like considered before a final decision is taken on the proposal. The consultation will close on July 14, 2015. Submissions can be made during the consultation by Freepost YOUR COMMENTS to Post Office Ltd, via email to, via the Customer Helpline on 08457 22 33 44 or Textphone 08457 22 33 55.
