Barclaycard organised a football and money skills day for primary school youngsters at Goals Soccer Centre in Northampton earlier this month.
Three mini-tournaments took place throughout the course of the day, for children in Years 4, 5 and 6.
More than 100 children, from schools across Northampton, took part in the free event.
Alongside the football, Barclaycard hosted a money skills training course.
Children completed the course in-between games.
Lee Wilkinson, from Barclaycard, said: “This shows the children the responsibilities of money and also makes the day a learning one as well as a sport one.”
The Barclaycard Premier League trophy was also brought along to the event so that youngsters could have their photos taken alongside it.
Lee said: “We contacted about 20 schools in Northampton to invite them along on the day and eight responded to say they would be attending.
“We are planning on holding the event again next year and some more schools have said they will be interested, after seeing how successful it was this year.”
The money skills element of the day posed students simple maths puzzles, some with a football theme, aimed to get them thinking about their spending.
Lee added: “The feedback we had about the money skills part of the day was good and that the pupils had found it useful.”
The winning teams were as follows: Year 4, Hardingstone Primary School; Year 5, Queen Eleanor Primary Academy; Year 6, St James Primary School.
