Post-mortem to be held following the discovery of a body in the back of a burning van in Northampton

Police investigations continue following an 'unexplained' death in town yesterday morning.

Emergency services including police, fire and ambulance were all called to Horsley Road at around 4am on Monday morning to reports of a van fire.

Officers found a body in the back of the burning vehicle.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said today (Tuesday): "A post-mortem is taking place today to ascertain the exact cause of death and our investigations are ongoing."

Police said yesterday that they were treating the death as 'unexplained'.

Horsely Road, just off the A508 Barrack Road, was taped off following the incident but has since reopened.

Witnesses, or anyone with information, are asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 55 of 13/8/18.
