Polling stations across the county closed at 10pm last night and the election will see candidates across the 31 wards in Northampton, Daventry and South Northamptonshire come together to form the new West Northamptonshire Council unitary authority.

Still in the calm before the storm. We’re expecting the first results to come in by around 2pm. They will then come thick and fast after that... Councillors are starting to arrive at the count now
Expecting the turnout figure to come through shortly. Last time there was an election for Northampton Borough Council, the turnout was relatively high as it was held at the same time as a General Election, which normally bumps up the average.
