Tories take Grange Park seat on South Northants Council after byelection

The Conservative Party won the Grange Park byelection for South Northants Council.

Simon Clifford topped the pll with 433 votes and fellow Tory, Adil Sadygov, came second with 313 votes.

Councillor Clifford, speaking after the result was announced, said: “I wish to thank all those in Grange Park who have put their trust in me, Adil and the Conservatives.

“We will continue to stand up for the interests of local residents at South Northants Council,” he added.

Mr Sadygov added: “We are committed to helping secure a better broadband service and to reduce the levels of anti-social behaviour in the area.

“I look forward to working with Simon and the Conservative administration at South Northants to achieve this.”

The full results were: Katie Chick – UKIP – 84 votes; Simon Clifford – Conservative – 433 votes; Peter Conquest – UKIP – 100 votes; Ian Grant – Labour – 151 votes; Adil Sadygov – Conservative – 313 votes.

Turn out was 19.9 percent.

South Northants Council is Conservative controlled with 32 Conservative councillors, six Independent, three Lib Dem and one Labour.
