In a message sent out to staff today Councillor Heather Smith said the county council’s role was to help deliver the best possible future for the people of Northamptonshire after Brexit.

She said: “It is critical that as community leaders and public servants we act in a professional and calming manner for the people we serve and to reduce any anxieties.

“In particular I think it is essential that we articulate facts and support people to understand what the real truths are and what they are still eligible for or not, be that a school place or a library card.
