People in the eastern district of Northampton are being urged to be vigilant after a series of thefts from cars.

In the last week seven wing mirrors have been stolen from Mini Coopers parked in the eastern part of town and one in Kingsthorpe.

Offenders have stolen the items overnight and it is believed they are being sold on.

A police spokesperson said: “Investigations into who is committing these offences are continuing.

“We would also like to remind people to report any suspicious activity to us, while it is happening, so we can respond as quickly as possible.

“Our advice to car owners, particularly the owners of Mini Coopers, is to secure their car as much as possible. If you have a garage, park your car inside and lock the doors.

“We would also like to speak to anyone who may have been offered a wing mirror for sale in suspicious circumstances.”

Witnesses, anyone who may have any information about these incidents or who may have been offered a wing mirror for sale is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
