Police 'keeping an open mind' after a body was found in the back of a van in Northampton

Investigations into an 'unexplained' death are continuing today, according to police.

A post-mortem was carried out yesterday to ascertain the exact cause of death following the discovery of a body in the back of a burning van in town.

Emergency services including police, fire and ambulance were all called to Horsley Road, just off the A508 Barrack Road, at around 4am on Monday morning to reports of a van fire.

Officers found a body in the back of the burning vehicle.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police today (Wednesday) said: "We are still keeping an open mind with regards to what exactly happened.

"The investigation continues."

Witnesses, or anyone with information, are asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 55 of 13/8/18.
