A two-day campaign to tackle street drinkers in Northampton town centre will be held next week.

The Northampton Town Centre Safer Community Team will carry out the operation on July 17 and 18.

During the two days, officers will patrol the town and seize alcohol from people drinking in the street.

The town centre team will also have a gazebo on the Market Square where they will promote the Don’t Kill with Kindness campaign.

The campaign is supported by agencies in the town which help homeless people and is designed to highlight how money given to beggars can be used to fuel a drink or drug habit and stop people from getting the help they need.
