Plans have been put forward to build a 56-bed care home in the village of Roade.

The proposals, submitted by ARE Limited to South Northamptonshire Council, could see a new two and three storey care home built next to the village's recent Persimmon Homes housing development in the Piano Forte site, Ashton Road. The current the site is a vacant plot of land after buildings were taken down.

In a design and access statement submitted within the planning documents, ARE Limited said: "The proposed development will provide a valuable opportunity to enhance the quality of life to the elderly residents, while meeting the shortfall of beds in the healthcare sector.

"There is a clear growing need for the proposed care home for the elderly, and the national and local shortage of suitable modern care accommodation is well-documented.

"This design proposal maximises the internal space and utilises the external space, with key rooms positioned to allow views out to landscaped areas and balconies that will give residents more usable dayspaces.

"The proposed care home would also create an opportunity for employment within the healthcare sector for residents of Roade."

The plans say each room would have en-suite shower facilities, and there would also be a car park with room for 28 vehicles.
