There was a colourful start to the weekend as nearly 300 people took part in the Rainbow Run on The Racecourse in Northampton.
The 5K run was held by Rainbows Children’s Hospice on Saturday to raise money for the only children’s hospice in the East Midlands.
Sponsorship money is still coming in, but the hospice have already received thousands of pounds.
All of the money raised will help Rainbows to provide vital care and support for children and young people with life-limiting and terminal illnesses in Northamptonshire and across the East Midlands.
The hospice holds Rainbow Runs across the country in hopes of raising awareness of what they do as well as raise the money needed to offer the care and support to life-limited children and their families.
Head of Community and Events at Rainbows, Katie Baxter, said: “It was a fantastic day, the people of Northampton have been great and we’re delighted so many of them came out to support the event. The community here has helped us raise thousands of pounds which will help make a huge difference to the lives of children with life-limiting and terminal conditions here in Northampton and across the East Midlands. A huge thank you to everyone that took part and all of the volunteers too.“
