The seventh annual Northampton Balloon Festival will take place at Billing Aquadrome this weekend.
Dozens of balloonists will descend on the 235 acre holiday park from tomorrow to Sunday, with the skies over Northamptonshire set to fill with around 35 bright and beautiful canopies at 6am and 6pm each day.
The popular festival – which will run alongside an American car show – attracts crowds of around 10,000 people and will culminate with a special event on Saturday night, when the tethered balloons will be lit from within to become giant lanterns that pulsate to the music.
Clair Fleming, the events manager at Billing Aquadrome, said: “The Balloon Festival is one of the highlights of the year and we’re very excited.
“If we get the sun that’s been forecast we should have some spectacular flying conditions although whatever happens, weather-wise, we’ve got all sorts of activities planned for all the family.”
