Village police officers have stepped in following complaints by villagers of anti-social behaviour and parking issues involving a nearby school.

Residents living close to Campion School in Bugbrooke were unhappy at cars being parked by older students away from the main school site to avoid congestion in Kislingbury Road and allow mums and dads to safely drop off younger year groups.

Bugbrooke's Police Community Support Officer Matt Taylor said: "We have been out with a representative of Campion School following complaints and we are working with the school to address these.

"We are also aware of counter-complaints from students about residents' actions.

"We identified no illegal parking, students were parked no differently to residents. And whilst we have had complaints about the behaviour of a minority of pupils, we have also had complaints of behaviour by a minority of residents. We have to remember respect works both ways.

"In two years of being the sponsored PCSO to Bugbrooke and Nether Heyford and 11 years as a whole. I've always found the younger members of the community respectful of my role. As they say it takes a village to raise a child."

A statement from Campion School said: "To minimise traffic along the main road and to prioritise parental drop-offs, our students have been asked not to park on site.

"Our students are parking legally within the community in respect of our wishes.

"We are disappointed to learn of the lack of support and understanding from local residents during such difficult times when we are all required to be flexible and supportive of one another."
