The club won a medal in every category it entered

A rhythmic gymnastics club based in Northampton has completed a ‘clean sweep’ of the County Championships.

Billings Rhythmic Gymnastics Club made club history on Sunday March 8 when 40 of its gymnasts competed in the event hosted at Weavers Sports Centre in Wellingborough.

The club came home with a history-making six county championships, including in the under 8s, under 10s, under 12s and ‘juniors’ age groups.

This is the most championships the club has ever won at one competition in its 23-year history.

Head coach Jo Gardener said: “It’s the first time in the club’s history that we have achieved this. We won in all the categories except for the one we didn’t enter, which was seniors.

“They all did individual routines and we do group ones too. The group ones were ribbon and ball.

“I’m immensely proud of the achievement. All the girls have worked so hard since last year, when the last county championships were held.

“We are celebrating but we’re also training hard too.”

The club that trains across Northampton in Moulton, Weston Favell and Duston is now preparing for the national competition.
