Outdoor play areas and gym equipment are allowed to be used from today

As lockdown restrictions ease and pubs, bars and restaurants reopen, so do play areas.

From today (July 4), outdoor play areas and outdoor gym equipment are now permitted for use, according to the latest Government guidelines.

And plenty of families were keen to get out and make the most of the new rules after the play areas had been off limits for more than three months.

The large play area in Abington Park was the chosen spot for many as children enjoyed the equipment.

There were also people keen to support the local cafe and there was even a socially distanced dance class with Ashby Dance School, in the park.

Northampton Borough Council released a statement earlier this week to say they had put up signage showing people how to enjoy the equipment safely and reminding park-goers to take their litter home.

Below are pictures of Abington Park, including the dance class, as play areas reopen.
