The owner of Fuego has said 'it's been absolutely amazing' to be reunited with her pet again after 19 days of him being on the run.

Katie Roseblade from Duston rehomed the Labrador-cross on July 5 after she got in touch with adoption centre, 2nd Chance Dogs, in Cyprus.

Six days later, on July 11, while he was out on a morning walk near Berrywood Road, he was spooked, escaped his harness and ran off.

This left his owners 'devastated' and on a mission to find him for nearly three weeks with the help of voluntary group Wellingborough Dog Squad who set up feeding stations and cameras.

Now, 19 days later, the family were reunited with Fuego in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday) after two positive sightings of Fuego eating on Monday at a farm.

Katie managed to source a specialised 'super trap' from a charity in Norfolk, which uses a light beam to attract the dogs attention, and can be manually shut by an app.

After patiently waiting at 1.25 am this morning for the dog to be lured into the 'trap' also by food, he stepped inside after 40 minutes and the pair were together again by 2 am.

"I'm so tired, it all happened in the early hours of this morning, it's absolutely amazing to be reunited again," Katie said.

"I have had probably 500 comments now with people who are elated he's been found, it's so overwhelming, it really is.

"I cannot thank everyone enough for what they have done no matter how small or big. Everyone played a key part in the catching of Fuego, who seems to be one very famous doggy.

"He was reunited with my other dog Gary who came to the UK at the same time and now they are inseparable.

"My two girls woke up to an amazing surprise. I want everyone to know how thankful I am that our family is now back together."

Katie has set up a GoFundMe page to support the voluntary Facebook group who helped get her beloved pet back.
