The 17-year-old presenter, who is studying multimedia journalism at Northampton College, thanked his tutors and the station for their help.

“This year has been so surreal and to add this is another massive achievement and I can’t thank everyone enough for all their support," he said.

“I love doing the sports show because talking about sport becomes second nature to me.

"It’s also great to connect with the local sports around Northampton and highlight community sports people might not know about.

“It also gives me an opportunity to volunteer at a fantastic radio station with fantastic people.”

More than 460 entries from 90 licenced stations have been whittled down for the Community Radio Awards 2020, designed to recognise a commitment to community, craft and causes.

The awards ceremony on December 12 is taking place virtually this year and will be streamed on YouTube and Facebook from 7pm.

Director Maxine Jones said: “This year has been a challenge for the sector, but community radio stations have responded by stepping up engagement with their local communities, with more programming and innovative presenters across the country broadcasting from home.

“It is clear to see from this, that passionate presenters, volunteers, and staff are really there for their audiences. These local radio stations are truly at the heart of their communities.”

“We wish NLive Radio good luck and can’t wait to host the ceremony virtually next month.”
