RSPCA Northants is looking for a new owner for Zach, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier crossbreed who has been with the charity for nine months.

Zach has been with RSPCA Northants since January after a change of circumstances with his previous owners.

A spokesman for the RSPCA said: "Zach is a lovely boy but we have had very little interest in him."

Over lockdown, many people have been looking to add a dog to their family and the RSPCA said the Find a Pet section of their website had 114 per cent more views over lockdown compared to the previous year.

Despite this, Zach is still looking for the perfect forever home. The 10-year-old Staffie mix is currently in a foster home but he is in need of permanent owners.

The Staffie's profile said: "Zach would be a great companion in a home and loves being around people and having lots of fuss.

"He does enjoy walks and having playtime but doesn't need long walks and is quite happy to curl up next to you and relax. He walks well on the lead and knows his basic commands.

"Zach is looking for a home with a garden which he has easy access to throughout the day."

The friendly dog is a little nervous of strangers, particularly males, so he needs some support to grow in confidence but once he is comfortable with people, he has a very loving side.

The RSPCA spokesman said: "He has been making lots of progress and is such a lovable boy but he is looking for a specific kind of home where the owners will be around a lot to create a strong bond and help build up Zach's confidence."

Zach needs to be the only animal in the home and would do better with an adult-only environment.
