We didn’t have tablets, we didn’t have X-boxes, AI, modern technology – and we certainly couldn’t game with our friends.
Children of the day had to make much more use of the magic world of imagination to get their thrills. I remember sitting in a cardboard box with a plastic steering wheel stuck to the wall. I certainly clocked up some great miles back then.
In fact, if you ask anyone who grew up in that era they are pretty certain to tell you just how brilliant simplicity was.

5. Speak & Spell

With hair that kids could stroke forever, My Little Pony. was a perfect imagination toy to pass away hours of indoor fun. With plenty of characters building up your own stable was always a favourite for birthday and Christmas presents. Photo: Google

7. Nintendo Entertainment System
Nowadays, this particular model of Nintendo will feel rather clunky and basic, But for those of lucky to have one, it was heaven. With classic games such as Mario Bros you could quite literally spend the entire day in front of the console. Photo: Getty

8. ThunderCats action figures
Like the He-Man line, the ThunderCats line was epic and also had a tie-in cartoon that made you want to collect them and re-enact what you just saw on tv. Photo: Google
