Oxford places for talented A-level pupils at Northampton School for Girls

Sofie Osmani and Lucy McGauran-Porter will both be heading to the red brick university in September after Sofie landed two A*s and one A and Lucy achieved three A*s.

The Spinney Hill Road school will also see one of its sixth form cohort, Alice Findlay, go to Harvard University in the US after receiving her three A grades this morning.

Head of the sixth form Jane Macdonald, said: “The achievements of these young women are stunning.

“They have worked so hard to achieve such outstanding results and all that hard work has paid off.

“We are massively proud of them.”

Many in the school were celebrating this morning after a quarter of its year 13 students took home A grades or above.

Deputy head teacher, Carly Waterman, said: “Our teachers work incredibly hard to ensure our students meet their potential. We are privileged to have such dedicated and skilled staff.”

School staff have also heaped praise on two pupils, Sophie Greenfield and Juliette Johnson, who they say had to overcome difficult years to get good grades.

Val Hodson, deputy head teacher, added: “We are so proud of the achievements of all our students, particularly those who have faced a range of challenges, yet have remained so focused on their futures.”
