Overnight road closures scheduled for busy Northampton roundabout

Repair work on a roundabout in Northampton will lead to overnight road closures

Roadworks start on Thursday (August 11) on the roundabout at the junction of Mereway and Towcester Road in Northampton.

The work will see an upgrade to the traffic lights and repair to safety damaged safety barriers.

A Northamptonshire County Council spokesman said the project was being done over the school summer holidays when there is relatively less traffic on the roads. The scheme is scheduled to take about four weeks but timescales are dependent on the weather.

The overnight closures will take place on:

Friday, August 12, 8pm – Saturday, August 13, 6am to install concrete barriers to protect the workforce and the travelling public. Full closures on Danes Camp Way to Tesco, Towcester Road and Mereway Eastbound.

Sunday, August 21, 4.30pm – Monday, August 22, 6am, for construction work.

Tuesday, August 30, 8pm – Wednesday, August 31, 6am, for the removal of concrete protection barriers.

Access will be maintained at all times for residents and businesses, while pedestrian access to footpaths and the subway will be also be maintained. Cyclists will be able to use the route as usual.
