An NSPCC spokesperson said: “Kennedy and Stone continued to plead their innocence.

“Putting the couple behind bars is not enough, they must undergo effective treatment in prison to ensure they are not a risk to children when they are released.

“The bravery of the victims in this case must be praised. By coming forward they not only brought their abusers to justice but may have saved other children from suffering from similar crimes.

“Our helpline is always available for anyone with concerns about abuse on 0808 800 5000, while children can contact ChildLine, 24 hours-a-day and for free on 0800 1111.”

The couple, formerly of Union Street in Desborough but now living in Market Harborough, were also given indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Orders.
