A Northamptonshire tennis club has appealed for information following an attack by vandals on its courts.

A spokesman at King’s Sutton Tennis Club reported that considerable damage had been done to the courts’ netting fence during an incident last week.

He said: “It is bad enough that the tennis club – a great asset to the village, entirely dependent on members for its funding – has been hit in this way.

“But knowing that there are people in the area so moronic that they are prepared to wreck public facilities for the sheer hell of it should give us all pause for thought.

“What next – the school? The memorial hall? The new play equipment that will shortly be installed on the recreation ground after years of fundraising efforts by local residents?”

The incident has been reported to Northamptonshire Police and anyone with information is asked to call 101 and quote reference NP/9386/14.

A reward has been offered for information leading to a conviction.
