Northamptonshire’s star of the Women’s Tour, Hannah Barnes, will be competing in the Commonwealth Games today.

The 21-year-old from Towcester will be cycling for the women’s road race in Glasgow between 8:01am and 11:05am.

Competing in her second Commonwealth Games, the young cyclist already has four gold medals and one bronze under her belt and competes only days after her younger sister, Alice, came fifth in the women’s cross country finals during her first year in the under 23’s cycling category.

Miss Barnes gripped the county’s attention when she won two jerseys and came third in the first leg of the inaugural Women’s Tour, which finished outside Northampton’s Guildhall, earlier this year.
