Northamptonshire police commissioner silent over latest development in Data Protection Act investigation

Police and Crime Commissioner Adam Simmonds 'will not be commenting at this time' after it was revealed the Crown Prosecution Service was awaiting his response over allegations he breached the Data Protection Act.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission announced in March last year it was investigating allegations Mr Simmonds had breached the Act by disclosing information relating to a criminal investigation to third parties, and committed an offence of misconduct in public office.
The IPCC has now completed its investigation.

A spokesman for the IPCC said: “The investigation is complete and a file was provided to the Crown Prosecution Service.

“The CPS has now given its decision which has been communicated to Mr Simmonds and we await his response,” he added.

A spokesman for Mr Simmonds told us: “Mr Simmonds will not be commenting at this time.”
