Youngsters got the chance to try out the three new-look play areas at Wimborne Place on Ashby Fields, for the first time over the Easter break.

The revamp was carried out by Daventry District Council (DDC) as part of a programme to enhance play areas in the town.

The improvements at Wimborne Place include new play equipment for toddlers, an area for children age five and over, additional play equipment for children 10 and over next to the existing skate ramp, and a shelter.

In autumn last year families and young people living near the park were invited to choose their favourite design for the new equipment.

Daventry District Council’s chief executive Ian Vincent said: “It is fantastic to see the new play equipment already being used by so many children. It has been specifically designed so that there’s something for youngsters of all ages to enjoy.

“I am delighted that we were able to complete this project for the Easter holidays and the dry weather has been an added bonus.”

Playgrounds in Daneholme Park, Edgehill Drive, Dee Walk, The Severn, The Roundway and Grenadier Road have also benefitted from £30,000 of new equipment or repairs to existing apparatus this year.
