Great Harrowden resident and long-time member of Wellingborough Golf Club Arthur Ball has shot his first ever hole-in-one on a golfing break at Dunston Hall, Norwich, at the age of 94.

Playing in a team competition between 18 Wellingborough members, Arthur and his playing partners Trevor Sherrington and Ian Jolly enjoyed the thrill of seeing his tee shot at the 169 yard par 3 ninth run up to the hole and disappear. Up to that point their round had been lacklustre, but Arthur’s 1 (Nett 0) for 5 Stableford points added to Trevor’s 2 (nett 1) for 4 points kickstarted their back nine and saw them come home overall winners of the competition.

The Golf Professional at Dunston Hall says Arthur is the oldest hole in one golfer he has ever heard of and presented Arthur with a bottle of bubbly to commemorate the occasion.
