Northampton's ABBA kittens in perfect health and ready for adoption, says RSPCA

Four stowaway kittens who travelled 1,000 miles from Poland to Northampton in the back of a lorry are fit and healthy for adoption, their carers say.

In the kittens' public debut, RSPCA Northamptonshire says families and potential adopters can meet Bjorn, Benny, Agnetha and Anni-Fred - named after Swedish pop band ABBA - for the first time today (August 15).

They wound up in Northampton in May and were discovered by a lorry driver after an overnight trip from Poland, just two-weeks-old and severely weakened from the journey without their mother.

Emma Markham, adoptions manager at the branch, said: “These four babies are absolutely gorgeous and definite livewires. They’ve had quite an adventurous start to their lives and, having completed their stint in quarantine, they’re now ready for their next adventure - finding a new home.

"Due to the quarantine procedure, the kittens have cost the branch a considerable amount of money and as a result, we are asking for a minimum donation of £160 towards their adoption. However, they are extra special as they do come with their own passports.”

“Quarantining the kittens was essential, but it has come at a big cost to the charity at £2,500. This is a considerable amount of money for a small and local branch to pay and any donations towards the kitten’s quarantine costs would be greatly received by the charity.”

The kittens have all had their standard vaccinations, as well as rabies vaccinations and other blood tests to ensure they do not pose a risk to any other animals within the UK.

Benny, Bjorn, Agnetha and Anni-Frid are available for viewings every day except Wednesday at the Hope Cattery in Brixworth between 11am and 2pm and, along with the other cats, rabbits and small furries at the branch, they will be at a rehoming evening tonight (August 15) between 4pm to 7pm.
